These fabulous original 1950s ribbon work dresses were almost certainly made by hand and we've sold many of these over years with some fabulous retail labels. They were usually made for the high-end department store market in the US. This one is unlabeled but of excellent quality so the label has most likely detached from the dress at some point. They are getting harder to find and this one is a lovely and unusual blush pink colour. The dress features an elasticated waistline and a gently flared a-line skirt finishing around mid-calf.
It's in really great vintage condition; there are no issues with the woven ribbon work. One of the sleeves has two little tassels whilst the other sleeve is without; we have left as is but you could easily transfer a tassel to the other side if desired. A simple design which looks very fresh and modern and can be dressed up or down as desired. There is quite a bit of stretch to the knitted ribbon so we advise wearing with a nude slip; will fit a range of sizes up to around a UK 12 or US 8.
